Filippo Moroni (born in Castiglione del Lago, 1996 – lives and works in Milan)
The driving force behind my research is undoubtedly a state of tension, understood not only as a force acting on a body, but also as nervous excitability directed toward what is happening. My recurring intention is to analyze reality with a cynical eye, emphasizing certain traits and reinterpreting it to the limit of what is possible.
In this way, everyday events are transformed into bizarre, grotesque occurrences. I like to express myself through different and constantly evolving techniques; in this sense, I feed on everything. I like to play with matter, altering its forms, tormenting its surface, manifesting the potential for decay inherent in nature, but also a true energy capable of vandalizing and shaping, destroying and recreating, in the full paradox of reality.
The work is divided into several cycles that branch out, intersect, and advance, giving rise to a whole that develops through the often ironic manipulation of forms and images. The tragic and the comic are fundamental creative stimuli for me that have characterized much of my work. The human condition is bizarre by nature, and in fact, the representation of our time has a tragic quality that can end in a smile and vice versa, a smile that can be attributed to tragedy.
