Filippo Moroni (Castiglione del Lago, 1996)
2019–2022 Master’s Degree in Painting from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, Milan. 2015–2019 Bachelor’s Degree in Painting from the Pietro Vannucci Academy of Fine Arts, Perugia.

Moroni’s work offers itself and is directed entirely to the viewer’s consciousness, fully realized in both form and content, while simultaneously remaining partially enigmatic and unyielding. It unsettles the ambitious and gratifies the hindered, forcing both into a direct confrontation with themselves. Almost as if enacting an act of violence, the artist vanishes behind his own staging, taking a seat in the audience and pushing the performer to the extremes of the possible and the impossible. Guided by these principles, his work explores the relationship between reality and appearance in society, between irony and tragedy, between excess and scarcity. His pieces, imbued with carnal allusions, exude an ambiguously opulent quality—something voluptuous and provocative that saturates the viewer’s perception.
