In conceiving this exhibition, we did not aim to tell a linear story, but rather to evoke an energy – one that runs through the work of Arnaldo Pomodoro like an underground current, made of layers, material urgencies, and intuitions that settle and then resurface, transformed. De-Rive was born from a deep listening to his work and the desire to embrace its complexity without trying to contain it.
The two locations of ABC-ARTE – Milan and Genoa – thus become complementary spaces within a single inner landscape, traversed by forms that bend, engrave, cut, and open up to space. This is not a retrospective, but a poetic map: made of contrasts and harmonies, of materials chasing and conversing with each other, of signs that remain.
This project, realized with the valuable collaboration of the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro and the curatorial contributions of Luca Bochicchio and the critical insight of Sharon Hecker, is also an invitation to reconsider the relationship between sculpture and time, between surface and depth. An invitation to allow oneself to drift, but with the alert gaze of someone still seeking meaning in forms.
The catalogue accompanying the exhibition is intended as an integral part of this journey—not merely a tool of documentation, but an extension of the exhibition experience. Through original texts and archival materials, it offers new perspectives, new drifts, for those who wish to dwell a little longer within the works and the ideas that gave rise to them.
