Antonio Kuschnir (Rio de Janeiro, 2001) began painting at the age of six, attending courses at the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage, where he took part in his first group exhibition. Raised among the forests, mountains, and sea of Brazil’s tropical landscape, he developed early on an artistic sensitivity deeply rooted in the symbolic power of natural elements. He ranked first in the entrance exams for both the Art History program at the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and the Painting program at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where he pursued his academic training.
In 2020 and 2021, he exhibited in both group and solo shows across Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, while simultaneously developing two major painting series: Choro and Avalanche. The former was exhibited in 2022 in the main hall of the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Niterói (MAC), making him the youngest artist ever to present a solo exhibition in the institution’s history. The latter was presented in 2023 at the independent art space Galpão 808, on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. In 2024, he held two solo exhibitions: at Casa da Escada Colorida in Rio, and at the cultural center Leerstand als Begegnungsraum in Bonn, Germany.
He currently lives in Germany and is an artist-in-residence at the La Napoule Art Foundation in the south of France. His works have been exhibited in galleries, museums, and institutions across Brazil and Europe.
