ABC-ARTE is pleased to announce the continuation of the exhibition Nanni Valentini: Altre trasparenze, altre terre. After its Genoa debut (September 26 – November 21, 2024), the project arrives in Milan, focusing on a pivotal moment in the artist’s research: the appropriateness and quality of space and vision.
A work like Una parete è un mondo, uno spazio reale (A Wall is a World, a Real Space), 1979, perfectly encapsulates the contiguity and contradiction between the space of representation and the physical concreteness of gesture, a theme already explored in a foundational piece like L’oracolo (The Oracle), 1974, presented here for the first time.
For a time, Valentini’s Trasparenze and his sculptural operations engaged in a continuous exchange, generating a conceptual and operational horizon that was unique in European art of the period. “I like to manipulate the earth, to see through a canvas, to bathe things in color. I try to understand what lies in the interspace between the visible and the tactile,” wrote Valentini in 1975.
The opening in Milan will take place on Wednesday, July 9 at 6:30 PM, at Via Santa Croce 21.
On this occasion, the first substantial section of the systematic catalogue of Valentini’s work, curated by the Archivio Nanni Valentini, is presented to the public and can be accessed at archivionannivalentini.com, which also serves as the point of reference for future work submissions.
A bilingual publication, published by ABC-ARTE edizioni, accompanies the exhibition project across both venues, with curatorial contribution by Irene Biolchini.
